Will a Daith piercing cure my migraines?
Due to shops trying to profit from those who suffer from migraines by increasing their prices and giving unfounded medical advice. We’ve decided it is necessary to share some of our thoughts:
At this time (March 2016) the effect of daith piercings on migraines has not been officially studied. Therefore it is difficult to determine whether there’s any truth to it relieving the pain. We can speculate about the science of why this piercing may help, but the fact is there are no clinical trials or Doctors saying that they have ‘X’ number of patients who have found it helpful. Our clients have had little or no relief after having their daith pierced. We do not believe that it will cure you, but if you enjoy piercings and body art there is no reason why you shouldn’t get one, because they are darn cute!!
Migraine sufferers, we have reduced our price for the daith piercing to $40, let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
How old do I have to be and how much is a piercing? Please see the section on the particular piercing you are interested in. We have listed the prices, age requirement, and healing time for each piercing.
Do you use only needles or is it possible to get pierced with a piercing gun? We would never recommend getting a new piercing with a gun because it is far too traumatic to your body. A single use sterile hollow needle will ensure there is ample space for your jewelry to sit comfortably, whereas a gun forces the excess skin or cartilage into the fresh hole. Plus, all of our tools are sterilized using an autoclave just like the local dentist’s office. Piercing guns are made of plastic and cannot be cleaned using this method.
How long do I have to wait to change out my jewelry?
Changing jewelry too soon can result in an infection or the closing of a newly pierced hole. If you wait long enough you may do it yourself as long as there is no irritation or redness. See the aftercare instructions for your particular piercing
Can I bring in my own jewelry to be pierced with?
No. We are proud to use Metal Mafia Body Jewelry for all of our piercings. All of our jewelry we use to pierce with has been sterilized in an autoclave. An autoclave is used to sterilize surgical equipment, laboratory instruments, pharmaceutical items, and other materials. It can sterilize solids, liquids, and instruments of various shapes and sizes. It uses the power of steam to kill bacteria, spores and germs resistant to boiling water and powerful detergents. If you have any questions about the quality and metal grade in the jewelry we use, please click on the link below to read the types of metals used. https://metalmafia.com/certificates
Is my piercing infected?
This is the common question asked about new piercings, and the answer is usually NO. 99% of the time the piercing is just irritated not infected. A piercing can become irritated because of contact with dirty hands. IF YOU HAVE NOT JUST WASHED YOUR HANDS WITH ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP, THEY ARE DIRTY! Signs of infection are pus, swollen tissue, radiating heat, or extreme pain on or around the piercing. If you believe that your piercing is infected please seek medical attention.
How do I know which piercing is right for me?
This is definitely a personal decision. Some forms of piercing may not be suitable for you based on the structure of your body. Body piercing is an ancient form brought into modern day influenced by religion, rite of passage, trends, tradition, and fads. But mostly it is a form of expression. Choosing something that will accent your body in a suitable attractive way is the best way to decide which piercing is right for you.
I only have a few minutes between classes or on my lunch break to get a new piercing. Is it possible to quickly get one done?
Although a piercing can be done in a couple of minutes it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best idea for you. Being anxious or rushed may take its toll, especially if skipping lunch. A little anxiety is okay before the basic piercing procedure and it is recommended to eat within a four hour window of getting pierced. We do also take appointments on Tuesday and Wednesday, you will need to come in prior to either of those days and pay for your piercing in full, then schedule a time that is best for you on Tuesday or Wednesday (8am-11pm, you pick!) For age requirements and pricing, please read the information in each description of the particular piercing you are wanting. Don’t forget to bring in your valid photo i.d.!!
